Public Comment:
Tax Collector Barry Maynard inquired as to when the Board of Finance would like him to report on the Suspended List.  It was agreed that he would be added to the next meeting agenda for March 20, 2012.

Board of Education Report:
Ms. Pendleton noted that there were some unexpected changes in Special Ed.  One student left and one student is not housed in Old Saybrook so this is lost revenue.  Ms. Pendleton wanted the board to be aware of the volatility of the special education account.

A short discussion and questions followed with regard to special education tuition and costs.

Tour of School Facilities Report:
Mr. Stevenson attempted to show a slide presentation and Mr. Thorpe narrated.  The board saw a few pictures of water damaged ceilings.  At this time the computer froze.

Treasurer’s Report:
Mr. Fish handed out his report to the board.  He noted that 2/3rds of the year has gone by and is 69% expended because all bond payments have been made.  Under revenue, taxes are coming in ahead of last year.  Chairman LaMay asked if the board had any questions for Mr. Fish.  Hearing none, he called upon Selectman Fortuna for an update on the general government budget.

Selectman Report:
Mr. Fortuna noted that the Board of Selectmen will be going to Town Meeting for The Kate.   He reminded the board that the trustees are kicking in $6,000/annually for expenses.

Mr. Fortuna noted that he and his board have been working very hard on the budget and will be presenting it at the first public hearing on March 15, 2012.  He noted that he has had several budget workshops.

Comments from the Chair:
Chairman LaMay noted that the second public hearing will be April 19, 2012 and asked Ms. Lewis to secure the Middle School Auditorium.

Chairman LaMay told the board that if they wanted to see any particular department heads to please let him know, so that they could be contacted.  He noted that Public Works will be coming in for the March 20, 2012 meeting.
